Grading Policies and Procedures:
Quarter Grades: will be based upon the following items. 1. Exams- each exam is worth 100 points. 2. Formal Essays- the final essay and all of its components are equal to 100 points. 3. Vocabulary Quizzes- three per quarter at twenty points each quiz. 4. Assignments and Quizzes- the points on assignments and quizzes will vary. Worksheets and reading review questions are worth usually 10 points, whereas quizzes and written assignments are worth more points. 5. Reading Journals- journal (please see Reading Journal Handout for specific grading guidelines). 6. Summer Reading Exam (25% of First Quarter Grade).
Each type of assessment given will have a set amount of points possible. In order to calculate quarter average, students should divide the total amount of points they earned for the quarter by the total amount of points possible. Given the exams, projects, quizzes, and homework that will be assigned each marking period, students should expect approximately 700 possible points each marking period. (The point values may vary with the different course sections and with each marking period).
